New Delhi: It comes as a shock for his fans, but its true. Master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, owes Rs1.66 crore as income tax to the government.

Informing this to the parliament, S S Palanimanickam, Minister of state for Finance said: “Tendulkar has been allowed to pay the dues in monthly instalments”.

He also informed the Rajya Sabha that information with regard to outstanding income tax against cricketers playing first class cricket is not maintained centrally.

Details on each player would require compilation of data at all the field formations spread throughout the country, Palanimanickam said.
