Deb, who took over as the editor in June 2006, is likely to join a “leading media house and will head its magazine ventures”, said a senior media industry executive who did not wish to be identified. He will be editor as well as publisher of the venture. Deb declined to comment on his plans. “It’s too early to say anything but there is something in the pipeline,” he said.

Meanwhile, M.K. Venu, a senior editor with The Economic Times (ET), the business daily published by Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd, will soon join The Indian Express (IE).

“Venu will be heading the Express Opinion Centre, the division that will jointly manage the opinion resources of FE and IE,” said a senior Indian Express executive, who didn’t wish to be named.

Indian Express is yet to announce Deb’s departure and the new editor’s name.

Mint, published by HT Media Ltd, competes with both FE and ET.
