New Delhi: Amar Chitra Katha print titles which have not seen fresh additions for years, will now have new characters, situations and stories vying for shelf space, as am ambitious revival package gets rolling, courtesy Ack Media.

Readers will have easy access to the comics of their choice through 500+ retail book stores as well as the Amar Chitra Katha online store. Surya’s gifts and Shershah are the first set of new titles that have been launched. Simply told, they are written in a style that will hold the attention span of today’s young reader. Fascinating, magical and with a moral message, they will continue to withhold the essence of the Amar Chitra Kathas of yore.

While ACK Media plans to extend the Amar Chitra Katha brand to online services, DVDs, TV and film, the investments in print offerings will continue. There are more than 200 of these titles that have been out of print for more than a decade. The new print titles will contain stories from the out-of-print catalogues as well as completely new content.

The group is already in the publishing business, bringing out the popular kiddy Tinkle family of magazines, illustrated classics, ACK online store, TinkleOnline.com and a set of proprietary characters. On popular demand the group has also introduced new special collections in print based on some of its most popular characters like ‘Suppandi’, ‘Shikari Shambu’ and ‘Kalia’.

Amar Chitra Katha Classics has more than 400 titles in over 20 languages, with books in Indian Mythology, History, Culture, Religion and Folklore. It is the best-selling children’s publication in most large format stores.
