Mumbai: To enable onboard Internet and telephone access, Kingfisher Airlines Ltd has signed a deal valued at about $100 million (Rs399 crore) with Honeywell International Inc., manufacturer of civil and military avionics.

The deal will also ensure supplying of spare parts, auxiliary power units and other equipment for airplane types, including A320, A330 and A340 of Kingfisher and its subsidiary, Deccan Aviation Ltd.

The Kingfisher-Deccan fleet is one of the largest airlines in India connecting 69 destinations and operating 570 flights daily with a fleet of 78 aircraft.

A formal announcement is likely to come from the ongoing Singapore Airshow. Mint couldn’t immediately reach Honeywell executives while Kingfisher declined to comment.

A person familiar with the development said Kingfisher is talking to various industry partners to provide email and telephone services.
