New Delhi: PUMA, Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures have teamed up to create a special footwear collection to celebrate the upcoming film “Speed Racer.”

The movie, based on the series created by Tatsuro Yoshida, stars actors Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon, John Goodman, Matthew Fox and Christina Ricci.

“Speed Racer” follows the adventures of a young race car driver (played by Hirsch). The Puma Speed Racer shoe inspired by the film is modeled after Puma’s Scattista silhouette featuring UNI technology, that is a new footwear construction using less waste by sewing the upper portion of the shoe directly onto the sole.

The new range was launched at Speed Racer’s World Premiere at Nokia Theatre in Los

Angeles, California on 26April. Cast members and celebrity guests signed pairs of the Puma shoes, which will be auctioned off for one of Christina Ricci’s charities, the Challenges Boys and Girls Club of America in South Central Los Angeles.

The shoe will hit Puma concept stores across the world on 9May.
