Bangalore: Countering a recent pre-poll survey by a media group which gave an edge to the Congress in the coming Karnataka polls, BJP today claimed that an “internal survey” conducted by the party revealed that it was set to bag around 119 to 129 seats in the state assembly polls.

“Our internal survey conducted by a reputed agency reveals that the BJP is all set to bag around 119 to 129 seats (of total 224 seats),” BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu told reporters.

The survey also revealed that the Congress would bag 60 plus seats while the JDS would bag below 20 seats, he said refusing to divulge the name of the agency that had conducted the survey. “It is a reputed agency”, he said

He, however, clarified that he was not completely depending on these poll surveys with past experience indicating that these polls often were off the mark.

However, this survey has been conducted to confirm our own findings with the ground situation. “We find that the BJP is firm on the ground”, he said. The survey revealed that there is an upsurge in favour of the BJP.

“We are confident of having a comfortable win”, he said.

Earlier, a Deccan Herald-CNN-IBN poll survey had given an edge to the Congress in the coming polls. Reacting to the survey, the BJP said it was “off the mark and totally away from reality”.
