Bangalore: On Friday, before the company issued a statement about her departure, Microsoft India managing director Neelam Dhawan said she isn’t going and that any investigation is news to her. She spoke to Mint at 12.30pm after receiving a questionnaire seeking response on several issues.

Have you put in your papers?

No. I don’t know what’s going on. I will talk to you at length on Monday. No, it’s just a rumour… There are so many rumours you know. Let me talk to you at length on

Listen Now
Monday and clarify. If there’s anything, I will definitely tell you. But there’s nothing. Let’s discuss at length on Monday. You know I am open.

But we’re told that you have resigned?

No. You’ll get to see the announcement the moment it happens. (pauses) You have raised issues such as financial irregularities and we haven’t had any of that. You

Dodging: Neelam Dhawan

Dodging: Neelam Dhawan

have raised issues of people leaving, which has not happened. There are a lot of things which I am not aware of. Why do you guys think that I am doing such a bad job?

Is the MS global fraud investigation team in India to probe irregularities?

No. I don’t know. What’s this news you are giving us? ...but the sales and marketing group is not under any investigation. Best is for Ravi (Venkatesan) to comment.

Have there been key departures in your team?

Not one. Not at least in (the past) one year.

Are hiring practices under review?

I cannot comment on that. Our employee satisfaction survey that came out in the second week of May said the morale is higher than it was last year.

But...

I have had a berevament in the family....I will not be able to comment further...

Finally someone is doing something proactive about the mess that is SMSG. MS India is a den of corruption and people like Neelam lead the way. The rot is so deep that eviction is the only way. Besides MS has to review its India employment policies and make it more India centric which means tighter controls to reign in the leadership team.

I heard that Dell India head man - Rajan Anandan is taking over as MD of Microsoft India. It's a rumour but all news is, to start with at least. He's a loud mouth and I cannot see him reporting to Ravi Venkatesan. So, Is Ravi moving out as well? Please dig. There is more here than meets the eye. Is Rajiv Shrivastav also going? JP Courtois was in India and was reviewing business. Ravi was not. Put 2 & 2 together and ask a few questions. Meenu is a disaster on PR. I think she is also getting being eased out. Deservedly so. Will someone also please talk to the DRI Regional Office in Mumbai - they are investigating Microsoft. Call KK Sharma and ask him - he is the boss there (so the web site says). Manju

Hey this was bang on. Rajan Anandan took over. Seems he is a mealy mouthed guy. Ravi Venkatesan was summoned by DRI and questioned. Strangely, Singapore and Redmond offices seem unconcerned. And that Meenu (Duffer) Handa is still there

Yes, you are right. DRI is investigating Microsoft and Ravi V has been interrogated. Check this out: http://www.livemint.com/2008/11/22000448/Microsoft-vendors-probed-for.html . Clearly there is something fishy and Microsoft is not coming clean. HP also is being interrogated and DRI has not opened up yet to disclosing names of other MNC companies.
