Mumbai: Engineering giant Larsen and Toubro said on 30 June it has received a Rs1,557-crore order from Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Ltd (APPDCL) for construction work.

The company has received a letter of intent for a Rs1,557-crore steam turbine generator package of 2X800 MW to be installed at Krishnapatnam power station in Andhra Pradesh, L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

This is the first order for a supercritical 800MW steam turbine generator, the company added.

The generators for the said project would be supplied by L&T-MHI Turbine Generators, a joint venture company set up by L&T and Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). The JV is in the process of setting up a manufacturing facility at Hazira in Gujarat.

L&T has also set up another JV with MHI for manufacturing of Supercritical Boilers.

“Both the JVs would be the pillars on which L&T’s power business will be built in the years ahead,” L&T added.

L&T shares were trading at Rs2,236.25, down 1.36% on the BSE in afternoon trade.
