Ahmedabad: After launching the Direct to Home (DTH) TV service, the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-Adag) plans to launch 20 satellite channels.

“We have got license for 20 broadcast channels from the ministry of information and broadcasting,” Sanjay Behl, group head (brand and marketing) of Reliance Communication said here today.

“R-Adag group channels network will be like Star TV and Zee TV networks and will be known as Big Broadcasting,” Behl, who was here to launch the group’s DTH service, said.

“The first channel will be launched in the next three months and remaining 19 channels will start broadcasting in the next one year,” he said.

“The R-Adag has decided to enter both broadcasting and distribution in the television sector which is one of the highest revenue earning sectors in the entertainment field. Reliance Big DTH will be our distribution set up, while Big TV will be our broadcasting wing,” Behl said.

“It will be easy for us to start satellite channels as we have the ready infrastructure of RCom,” he added.

Behl, however, refused to give details about the types of channels the group plans to launch.

He said that with the launch of its channels, the Big brand will have presence in all forms of the entertainment industry including films, music and television.
