New Delhi: Advertising on television by mobile phone makers rose 27% by volume during January-June 2008 compared to the corresponding period in 2007. Nokia Corp. topped the list of advertisers within this category.

A report titled ‘Advertising of Mobile Phones’, released by AdEx India, a division of TAM Media Research, also says National channels had the largest share of mobile phone advertisements on television.

When sales in every other comparable product category (e.g. reduced footfalls in malls) are de-celerating, it is strange that one category, mobile hansets and talktime is going up. Every thing else for an Indian could possibly be contained , but not his talking.
