New Delhi: Ambuja Cements has reported a nearly 7% growth in cement production at 12.08 lakh tonnes during last month against 11.30 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period.

“Sales grew by 7.7% at 12.40 lakh tonnes in August 2008, compared to 11.51 lakh tonnes in August 2007,” Ambuja Cements Ltd said in a statement.

During the first eight months of 2008, the company’s cement production went up by 5.3% at 118.25 lakh tonnes against 112.25 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of 2007.

“Sales during January-August 2008 rose 5.1% at 118.26 lakh tonnes against 112.53 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period,” it added.
