New Delhi: Candles have long held a warm place in our lives. I mean, could you imagine a romantic dinner without one to light the table? In more serious instances, vigils the world over are always lighted by candles – their flames symbolizing hope and life.

No wonder Elton John thought of a candle when he composed his immortal song, “A Candle in the Wind,” when he thought of Marilyn Monroe and then Lady Diana.

So, really, given the cultural significance candles have in our lives – are you really surprised that there could be one priced at Rs4 lakhs?

The little candle store in Delhi that created it thinks it’s worth every drop of wax. The store owner, Saif says, “it has been poured from 1000 kgs of wax, has been hand sculpted and has been designed meticulously…”

He also added that it “can be used” as a centerpiece in a hotel lobby, with other adornments, like flowers.

Just as well, since most of us would probably not want to burn a Rs4 lakh rupee hole in our pockets.
