Kolkata: Ratan Tata on Friday pulled out of West Bengal for its Nano project, blaming it on continuing agitation by the opposition parties, spearheaded by Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.
Addressing the media after meeting with chief minister Budhadeb Bhattacharjee, Ratan Tata, however, said that Nano will come out as per the committed time.
“Nano will come on time. We will make make-shift arrangement to meet deadline,” Tata said.
“There was little choice but move out of Singur, he said.
The move has been prompted after taking into account issues such as well-being of its employees at the project and safety of contractors as well as that of its vendors.
The persisting agitation by the opposition parties has been the sole reason behind the decision to pull out of the project, he said.
The company is exploring offers from three-four states about the new site of the project and the new location would be announced soon, Tata said.

The unthinkable has taken place, the decision to pull out of Singur is a painful decision for Ratan Tata but it will be turnout to be more painful for for people at large who were hoping to own a safe means of transport at affordable price abd people in singur also who would now have to look elsewhere for employment opportunities. For politicians it is a game as usual for defrauding innocent people to come to power. Thos who are following these politicians are ignorant as also paid for participating in a rally. What rerally pain one, is that in Nano care the Corporate india led by Mr. Ratan Tata has been talking about wouking for the interest of the workers and the political parties claiming to be working for the poor. But the trade unions were conspicously absent. Aren't they support to represnt the working class as also protect and promote their interests. I hope the trade unions too draw lesson from the singur case, in case they want to retain their representative roles.
