New York: Accusing the Indian government of failing to stop violence against Christians, people from all faiths staged a rally in Philadelphia and demanded strong action against those responsible for the attacks.

Addressing the demonstrators, their leaders faulted the Indian government for not taking strong action to end the violence against Christians, especially in Orissa.

“Despite numerous pleas for help, the Indian government has not sufficiently responded to the situation,” said the pamphlets distributed by the organisers, including representatives of local Indian churches.

The protesters carrying placards reading “Stop Religious Persecution in India,” “We Want Justice” and “No Justification for Murder,” were led by Rev. Biju Thomas of St. Thomas Evangelical Church of Philadelphia and Fr. Jacob Christy of St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Church of Philadelphia.

The rally began with a prayer and was followed by singing of both American and Indian national anthems and a prayer was also conducted by priests and pastors for both the “persecuted and the persecutors”.

All the problems in India today are due to America one way or the other. It is George Bush's 'Project Joshua' to convert India to a Christian country with active support from Sonia Gandhi that lead to the problems. He dreamed of one church for every 10 feet in India. Right from Bill Gates' Foundation, Ford Motors, US Consulates, Seventh Day Adventists, Pentecostals to 'Christian NGOs' like World Vision tried to 'take over' India in the briefest possible time. They stooped so low as to make use of every earthquake and even tragic tsunami of 2004 to convert maximum Hindus to their fold. This kind of frontal assault on the most ancient of civilizations deserves condemnation in the strongest terms. Is this what friendship means for Americans? What right do they have to preach Hindus to be tolerant when there are 8 or 10 churches for less than 2 or 3 Christian convert families residing? It is exactly this pigheaded approach that got Americans enemies in the friendliest of places. Atleast now if they can change their mindset and stop radicalising Hindus of India, they will have peace. They are on their way to create Hindu version of Al Qaeda if my reading is fair. Any number of Indian Evangelism inspired protests on the streets of US will not bring any peace dividends. These are cheap gimmicks.

Biju Thomas and Jacob Christy both sound like Indian names. Why are they washing dirty linen in the US, especially when aggressive conversion by Xians is what instigated the violence in the first place. What do these two jokers have to say about the assassination of Swami Ranganathananda by Maoist goons who were hired by Xians?

Manish, there is a proverb When a fool opens his mouth his foolishness is revealed. Next time before accusing someone better get your facts right. The nun who was raped. the 50000 Displaced christians in Orissa in the Govt run camps, the Sword and trishul waving deathlores and killings by Bajrang Dal for 2 month, and the forced conversion of Tribal Christians in Orissa with the threat of death if they dont accept Hinduism, says a lot about the pathetic state of affairs and humantarian injustices. The fact that we Christians are swallowing the bitter pill and not retaliating doesnt give people like YOU the blind jokers in terrorist Sangh parivar camps the right to do whatever you want. If you think India is related with Hinduism and no other religion WILL EXIST then START ACTING LIKE A TRUE HINDU. Stop speaking or discoursing in English because its a "foreign language" stop eating junk food because its "orgin is associated with christian country" and stop wearing those western clothes and wearing other stuff that depict you Not as a Hindu but a confused Desi. WE WILL PROTEST BECAUSE ITS OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO PROTEST WHETHER YOU OR YOUR MASTERS BAJRANG DAL OR ANY OTHER TUCHA ORGANISATION LIKES IT OR NOT.

Those blaming Bush and America for the misdeeds of fundamentalist Hindus that target Christians are either deceived or being deceptive. The history of radical acts by fanatical Hindus goes much further back (the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the destruction of the Babri Masjid mosque in 1992, the killings of Christians in Assam, to name just a few). Indians and the world must face down this danger which threatens to sully the name and beauty of a great country. First of all my heart goes out to all of the victims of this persecution. First two comments by Vipul and Manish are representative of the problem in India today. India is a great country and Hindus have been very tolerant to all religions. The selfless work of Christian missionaries is behind all the achievements in education and many other fields. There were no Swamis to take care of the poor and destitutes of Calcutta. Whereever in India you are you can look around and find examples. I wish you guys would regain the power to think of yourselves instead of acting on somebody's words. If they do guys wouldn't go kill their next door neighbour because Advani said so. If they think, it wouldn't be so hard to see that Advani's nehpew is married to a Muslim. I hope a few of these fanatics wouldn't ruin the culture of a great country.
