Mumbai: Stainless steel maker Jindal Stainless (JSL) reported a net loss at Rs68.64 crore for the second quarter ended 30 September.

The O P Jindal Group company had a net profit of Rs41.81 crore in the same period a year ago.

Total income of the firm declined marginally to Rs1,207.21 crore in the quarter under review, from Rs1,248.93 crore in the same period last fiscal, JSL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

For the six months ended 30 September, the integrated stainless steel producer reported a net loss of Rs40.21 crore, while it had a net profit of Rs124.41 crore in the year-ago period.

Total sales rose to Rs2,907.81 crore for the six-month period from Rs2,339.10 crore in the same period last year.

Shares of the company closed at Rs36.55, down 13.70% on the BSE.
