Doha: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s second leg of the three-day visit to the energy rich Gulf region on Sunday saw India and Qatar signing agreements for cooperation in defence and security sectors.
The pacts among other things entail sharing of intelligence and data to prevent criminal and terrorist activities, officials said here.
Singh, who arrived from Muscat to gas-rich nation this evening, met Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr al Thani for talks on enhancing trade, defence and energy cooperation.
The defence cooperation agreement includes issues of maritime security, while the pact on security and law enforcement would cover issues like common threat perceptions and sharing of data.
