Motihari: A person hailing from East Champaran district of Bihar has invented a generator silencer which would not only help in decreasing the sound level but will also reduce the level of carbon emission.

Virendra Kumar Sinha, a resident of Belbanwa colony of the Motihari town, has invented the silencer-cum-exhaust filter for the generator set after a hard work of six years.

Sinha said his product was put under test in three stages in the laboratory of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Ranchi, where it was proved that the product was capable of reducing about 60 to 70 per cent of the harmful carbon-dioxide and carbon-monoxide gases emitted by generators.

After the lab test at BIT, Sinha got his product patented by Indian Patent Office, Kolkata.

The invention would help in checking the global warming also, Sinha said, adding that the exhaust silencer was capable of sucking the carbon gases inside its drum reducing the level of carbon emission into the environment to the level of 70%.

The idea to go for such invention came first when the people of his colony complained that his generator set emits polluted air and makes too much sound, Sinha added.
