Dhaka: Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday took the charge as the prime minister of the Bangladesh. She paid tributes to the country’s founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyrs of 1971 Liberation War.

This is Hasina’s second term as the prime minister of Bangladesh. Earlier, she had headed the Awami League-led government from 1996 to 2001.

As the new head of the state, Hasina laid wreath at the portrait of her father Sheikh Mujibur at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi.

She also paid ceremonial homage to the 1971 martyrs at the suburban Savar accompanied by members of the newly inducted cabinet.

Hasina was received by senior government officials at the prime minister’s office (PMO) where she reached directly from Savar, a PMO spokesman said.
