Mumbai: Malvinder and Shivinder Singh- promoted Fortis Healthcare today reported a net loss of Rs1.63 crore for the third quarter ended 31 December.

The company had a net profit of Rs1.61 crore in the December quarter of the previous financial year, Fortis said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The total income, however, rose 19.27% to Rs45.93 crore during the quarter under review, from Rs38.51 crore in the year-ago period.

For the nine-month ended December 2008, Fortis’ net loss narrowed marginally to Rs6.37 crore, from Rs6.98 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

Total income rose 9.45% to Rs128.15 crore during the nine-month period from Rs117.09 crore in the same period last fiscal.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs66.25, down 2.57% on the BSE.
