New Delhi: Reliance ADAG’s gaming vertical Zapak Digital Entertainment plans to increase the number of its gaming cafes to 200 this year and would also foray into Brazil, Pakistan and Russian markets.

“We will increase the number of Zapak Gameplexes to 200 in 75 cities in 2009. We would look at both B and C-class cities,” Zapak chief operating officer Rohit Sharma said.

Zapak currently has 60 such cafes in 30 cities, which provides the user original and legal content for playing as well as buying.

The ADAG firm will use funds from the $50 million investment it had announced in 2006, when it had commenced operations.

The company is also ready for expansion of its gaming portals to Russia, Brazil and Pakistan.

“We are almost ready for our expansion plan in Russia, Brazil and Pakistan. I think by April this year, we will have a clear announcement on this,” he said adding that Zapak would look at forming a joint venture or a marketing partnership for its expansion in the countries. It has also developed country-specific games for these countries.

“We get about 1,00,000 users every month to our Zapak Gameplexes. We expect the number of gamers coming to the cafes to go up to 3,00,000,” Sharma said.

With an average revenue per user of Rs1,500-2,000, the channel is proving to be a good revenue stream for the company.

The company is also looking at increasing its user base on its portal.

“Presently, we have six million registered users on Zapak.com. In 2009, we expect the registered base to go up to 10 million,” he said.

Zapak would also look at launching subscription-based Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) in March 2009.

“MMOGs has a virtual world where hundreds of people can play together. The first title called Crazy Cart will be launched in March 2009 followed by two more titles in 2009,” he said.
