@Achtung Perhaps it was phrased poorly. In America people are boring and un-expressive with their gestures. In Italy and in India people talk amazingly well with just their hands. You can see it in their dance: emotions can be expressed with just a few graceful flicks of the wrist. And it's the same with the hand gestures for directions. People can actually show me to take the third left on a roundabout with their hands. If I tried to do that, the driver would crash into the median.
