Mumbai: Meera Sanyal, executive vice-president and country executive, India, at ABN Amro Bank NA will stand for the Lok Sabha seat from South Mumbai. An ABN Amro spokesperson said Sanyal, who will contest as an independent candidate, has gone on leave till mid-May.

Madan Menon, managing director and country head, in charge of wholesale, corporate and investment banking, is likely to look after Sanyal’s portfolio in her absence. The bank will make a formal announcement in this regard next week. Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc. has acquired ABN Amro’s Asian operations but the process is not yet over in India.
