Chandigarh: Honda Siel Cars India on Monday said it is aiming to achieve a growth rate of 10% in sales volume in the current fiscal on the back of surge in demand.

“We are targeting a double-digit growth rate of at least 10% in sales in 2009-10,” company’s director Tatsuya Natsume said after launching the Jazz model here.

With the automobile sector showing signs of recovery, the company has been able to manage growth of 6-8% in the past two months.

“We have achieved growth of 8% in April and 6.5% in the month of May,” he said, adding that the company achieved highest sales of 8,900 units in the month of March this year since its operations in India.

However, it posted negative growth of 10.88% in 2008-09 by selling 55,250 units compared with 62,000 units sold in 2007-08.

The sales dipped in 2008-09 owing to supply constraint and drop in demand due to economic slowdown, he said.
