Mumbai: Drug firm Piramal Life Sciences on Tuesday reported a net loss of Rs28.12 crore for the June quarter (Q1) ended current fiscal as compared to Rs21.27 crore in the same period last year.

Net sales rose to Rs1.73 crore for quarter ended 30 June against Rs1 lakh in the same period ended June 2008, Piramal Life Sciences said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Last year, drug firm Piramal Healthcare had changed the name of its research and development centre to Piramal Life Sciences from Nicholas Piramal India Limited Research and Development.

Shares of Piramal Life Sciences hit upper limit at Rs60.10 on the BSE, up 9.97% from previous close.
