Chandigarh: The Punjab education department has declared the current academic year 2009-10 as qualitative year to bring out revolutionary educational reforms in the schools in the state.

Among various steps for improvement in imparting quality education, inspection teams to inspect schools at district level had also been constituted.

Stating this here today, a spokesman of education department said that to spare more teaching time for the teachers during the school hours, all District Education Officer (DEO),Block Education Officer (BEOs) and schools heads had been categorically directed to depute clerks or non-teaching staff only on the accounting jobs like collection of funds and fees from the students.

He said that it would be mandatory to call parent teachers association (PTA) meeting on the last day of every month after schools hours.

All students would be properly informed in advance two days before PTA meeting and parents would be provided monthly progress report cards and the daily signed.

Besides students work books would be regularly checked by the class teachers and school heads, he said.

He said that for surprise checking of schools, inspection teams had been constituted at district level comprising seven lecturers or masters from Science, Mathematics, Social Science, English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Computers faculty.

These teams would inspect atleast 30 schools in every month in the district besides annual inspections and would submit their reports to the director general School Education by fifth of every month.
