Mumbai: Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, or M&M, the country’s largest maker of utility vehicles, is in advanced talks with a foreign company for manufacturing aircraft, according to a person familiar with the development.
The company is also trying to commercialise a five-seater aircraft project that it had initially taken up to showcase its aviation capabilities to prospective foreign partners.
Mahindra Aerospace Pvt. Ltd, an arm of Mahindra Systech, the group’s automotive division, is planning to seek regulatory approval to launch the aircraft commercially.
An M&M spokesperson, however, said, “The company does not comment on speculations.”
M&M is likely to join hands with a foreign partner to make 8- and 14-seater aircraft.
