New Delhi: Gross premium underwritten by general insurance companies in the country rose 13.9% in July to Rs2,856 crore year-on-year, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda) said.
Premium underwritten by four public sector companies—National Insurance Co. Ltd, New India Assurance Co. Ltd, Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd and United India Insurance Co. Ltd—rose 13.5% on year in July to Rs1,680 crore.
Public sector companies had a 58.8% share in the premium underwritten in July, and private companies 41.2%.
