Part of the Nigah QueerFest, the photo exhibition this year is themed around “fantasy”. It is curated by Sunil Gupta, and German artist Ins Kromminga will create on-site installations and give a presentation.

Bikash Bhattacharjee—A Retrospective

Vadehra Art Gallery, in collaboration with Emami Chisel Art, Kolkata, has organized a retrospective of Bikash Bhattacharjee’s works.
About 36 artworks are on display, most of them sourced from Kolkata. These include not just oil paintings, but pen-and-ink drawings, lithographs, watercolours, gouache and pastels, paper prints, silk screens on paper, etchings and conte on paper. What’s missing is the fine collection of oils from the National Gallery of Modern Art.

Groove Wallah

This band, which comprises six Americans, a German and an Indian, plays groovy funk and blues. Expect tunes by the likes of Wilson Pickett, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Aretha Franklin.

Fuel Great Indian Rock 2009

This is the 13th year of music magazine Rock Street Journal’s annual festival. Like previous years, there will be a glut of Indian metal bands. There will also be three international headlining bands—Benea Reach from Norway, Intronaut from the US and New Zealand’s Solstate.
While the Norwegians are a full-on metal band, Intronaut has blended its brutal onslaught with less frenzied and more atmospheric sounds in recent times. Solstate is a hard rock outfit that features Zorran Mendonsa, the younger brother of Warren Mendonsa, former guitarist with the Mumbai band Zero.

Talamasca

Parisian Cedric Dassulle has been DJing for years, but it was his psychedelic project Talamasca, started in 1996, that got him massive global attention. His is one of the most requested trance live acts at all major festivals, including Boom (Portugal), Fuji (Japan) and Chemical Sound (Rio de Janeiro).
Talamasca was the first project of Mind Control Records, which is based out of Paris, in 2004. Among other tracks, this resulted in a hugely popular double album Obsessive Dream in 2007.
