Mumbai: The country’s third biggest producer, JSW Steel Ltd, said second quarter profit rose 28% after production was increased to meet demand from construction and automobile companies.

Net income climbed to Rs323 crore in the three months ended 30 September from Rs252 crore a year earlier, the Mumbai-based company said on Friday in a statement. Sales rose 2% to Rs47.3 crore.

JSW Steel increased its output by 54% to 1.54 million tonnes in the quarter.
