Mumbai: Indian shares fell 0.4% early on Friday, led by losses in banks, in line with the weakness in global equities.
At 9:55am, the 30-share BSE index was down 0.44% at 16,711.49 points, with 25 components declining.
State Bank of India and ICICI Bank were down 1% each.
The 50-share NSE index was down 0.4% at 4,968.95.
