Mumbai: Condé Nast India Pvt. Ltd, the wholly owned subsidiary of the US publishing house Condé Nast International, announced the launch of ‘Condé Nast Traveller’, its popular travel magazine brand, in India. Priced at Rs100, the magazine will be launched as a bimonthly in October. Condé Nast already publishes ‘Vogue’ and ‘GQ’ in India.

The launch was announced by Nicholas Coleridge, vice-president of Condé Nast International.

Condé Nast Traveller’s India version will be the sixth edition of the publication around the world. The first edition of the magazine, launched in the US in 1987, has been the recipient of six National Magazine Awards.

The world’s best known travel brand, Lonely Planet, which sells 6.5 million guidebooks a year according to its website, is also set to enter India. Its travel magazine will be launched soon by Worldwide Media, a joint venture between Times Group and BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corp.

The editor of ‘Condé Nast Traveller’ is likely to be announced soon, said Alex Kuruvilla, managing director of Condé Nast India.

In India, ‘Lonely Planet’ and ‘Condé Nast Traveller’ will compete with the Outlook group publication ‘Outlook Traveller’ and ‘Travel Plus’ from the India Today group, priced at Rs60 and Rs100, respectively. Outlook Traveller’s cover price will increase to Rs75 in February.
