Bangalore: “State-owned Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) expects work on the Dhabol-Bangalore gas pipeline project to be completed by March 2012,” company’s chairman and managing director B.C. Tripathi said on Thursday.

“The prestigious Rs5,400 crore project would also lead to generation of about 8,000 MW of power using gas in Karnataka,” he said after calling on chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to brief him on the progress of the work.

“The pipeline would pass through 11 districts, ensuring gas supply to consumers,” Tripathi said.

He said that the chief minister has assured him that the state would render all cooperation to GAIL in completing the project.
