New Delhi: The United Nations (UN) has launched an independent review of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) fourth assesssment report in New York. Formally announced by UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, a team of the world’s leading scientists will investigate how the Nobel Prize winning panel overlooked glaring errors in its influental report.

The review will be facilitated by the inter academy council, whose members are drawn from the world’s leading national science academies, including Britain’s Royal Society, the US National Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
