The makers of BlackBerry phones have avoided a ban in the nick of time. Late on Monday Canada-based firm Research In Motion made a series of proposals that the government will now consider. Among them- RIM will locate some of its servers here in India. RIM’s move came just one day before a government deadline expired. The government had threatened to ban some BlackBerrry services because it was concerned it could not intercept them.

The nuclear liability bill is finally through parliament. The Rajya Sabha approved the controversial law late on Monday with the BJP extending support to the government. If it becomes law, the bill is expected to open up a local market for nuclear energy worth up to $150 billion.

Reliance Industries has entered the hospitality business. On Monday it bought a 14.12% stake in EIH for $217 million. EIH operates Oberoi hotels and resorts across India.
