INDISEC Expo 2010,an exhibition on homeland security, saw coming togetherof the policy makers, industry veterans, influencers and end users to discuss the issues related to internal security. It also saw participation from various security and detection equipments manufacturers which facilitate the process of enforcing security norms and standards.

From Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) to 15 mm small Global Positioning Systems (GPS), there was something for everyone looking to secure their surroundings. Anti-rioting guns, mob control devices and armoured suits were the highlight considering the volatile situation in Jammu & Kashmir.

We picked up five such devices which make life easier for the security forces while handling crowds and enforcing law and order. Body scanner from GE Security when installed detects narcotics with analysing time of 13 seconds. Another one from Lotan Security, a metal detector identifies any amount of metal hidden in the shoes, without one taking it off.

Armoured Suit from Applied Systems, already used by Indian UN Peace Keeping Missiong, J&K Police and Rapid Action Force, provides protection against attacks by batons, rods and stones. Light in weight, one can run easily after wearing it. To complete the armoured suit, shields made from the Toughened Glass of TAK Technologies can be used. Hard enough to take a blow from any sort of explosion like TNT explosives.
