Through Shakespeare, Henry IV moaned: “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” He said nothing, though, about that uneasy head going grey. But he had to worry only about a son and a minor rebellion.

Barack Obama, in the last three years, faced the presidential campaign, two wars, a healthcare Bill, recession and unemployment, Wall Street reform, a recalcitrant opposition, and waning popularity. Little wonder, as this triptych shows, that he has grizzled alarmingly. The odds have it that Obama will leave office fully grey, a young elder statesman.
