i think adoption is uncommon in india because of the social stigma that may be attached to it that typically stems from the fear that the incapacity to produce one's own may be looked down upon by society. and this partly stems from close mindedness, lack of education and exposure. also adoption can be a expensive proposition..i dont know how much it costs in India but in the US, people do invest a lot on money into the process...maybe another reason why Indians are hesitant
