Go for a thin sliver strategy
A large number of citizens want ‘action’ against Pakistan. But any action must be well thought out in terms of its goals, efficacy and consequences

There is even a simpler solution. If India considers Kashmir its own territory in terms of the Instrument of Accession signed in 1947, it is free to take any action in any part of Kashmir which is affected by deadly insurgents. Terrorists who killed almost 200 people in Mumbai were indeed trained in camps in occupied Kashmir. Bombing known training grounds of terrorists in the occupied parts of Kashmir would be a legitimate action by Indian Armed forces because it is Indian territory. It is the same as police action in Hyderabad where Indian Army went in Aid to Civil Power or in Goa. However, India needs a leader of Sardar Patel's stature and integrity. The question is, does the present UPA-led Government of India has the courage to take such an action? The answer obviously is NO, because Naxalites are killing Indian police AND civilians by hundreds and UPA is still in the appeasement mode. so, what are the options for Indian people? Suffer and lose thousands of lives and millions of dollars worth of public property at the hands of terrorists till the country becomes a failed state?
