This insightful research and similar research on other social problems in India can have far reaching impact. Why is it that an MIT needs to comission something like this and tell us. Not that I am unhappy that a foreign school is doing this, but still we since we have seen these problems all these years, supposedly, we should have a better grasp of the these problems. I can see some parallels in "Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid" book, in which CKP talks of solving local problems and servicing unique local needs and also make profits. Remember, many of his case studies come from India.
