Your organization, Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) has been paying tribute to her founding father Late Dr. Dhananjay Rao Gadgil, the leading Economist of the World and the Former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of Independent India. Leading luminaries like Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Dr. Arthur Carty, Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, and Dr. Vijay Kelkar have delivered Memorial Lecture in honor of the father of Co-operative Movement of India in previous years. This year, in continuation of the tradition, and to celebrate the 50 years of MEDC, Shri Avinash Dixit, Eminent Economist of the World is especially coming from USA to deliver the Memorial Lecture. Dr. Dixit is reckoned by many as the future Noble Laureate in Economics. Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia has been invited to preside over the function. In view of the presence of these dignitaries, ‘who’s who’ of the State from Policy Makers to Bureaucrats to Leaders from the Corporate World are going to be present on this event. The event is scheduled to take place at 6.00pm at Centrum, World Trade Centre on 22nd January, 2009.
