Though I am sure your article is meant in good faith, I have some serious issues with it. I seriously disagree with your stereotypes for the "balding s/w guy" and the "shy Indian bride". Not every NRI works in the SW industry, or is balding. And not all girls in India are shy any more. And don't blame each and every NRI for a handful of cases gone wrong. If you started writing about every successful marriage between an NRI H-1 visa holder and a girl from India, you would run out of all your nine lives. You don't think bad marriages happen in India? Do you seriously think that if an Indian girl decides to marry a guy within India, every thing is merry? Hell, given the attitude of parents in India, girls probably suffer a lot more in India, in case the husband turns out to be an abusive one. And what's wrong with an NRI going to look for a girl in India? Just because a guy has started living in US, does not mean they have lost all their morals or culture or traditions or customs. As far as looking for brides with "Indian values" goes, it does not necessarily mean "chaste and submissive", as you put it. Most guys in fact would prefer an outgoing and confident girl, who will be comfortable making the transition from India to US, and adapting to the life style here. And lastly, the only part I liked about your article, is the last part, which talks about having open and frank communication. That is the key to not make a mistake.
