If anybody's household income reduces, he has to take cost cutting measures so that he can manage his house. This subject should not be treated emotionally. If you have 3 servants in house and due to some financial constraint you ask one of the servants to leave, would it not be the same scenario? So if any company is taking measures to reduce operation costs including employee layoffs, it should be fine.
