Nice article. Good to hear people practice is getting it's due focus with talent crunch hitting virtually every company today. Companies need to be pro-active in sensing employee aspirations. The pressure to hire in ever increasing numbers often results in a mismatch between employee-job fit, leading to high attrition. People are being enticed with ever increasing salary packages without a thought about the fit from a cultural and performance point of view and then there is wide eyed surprise when attrition is at an all time high. Also methodologies employed for hiring need to be questioned. Are employees joining companies to build a career or are they in for a quick salary jump before jumping ship yet again? Are HR practices able to screen for such behavior? Do we even have systems and strategies to attract talent in companies for the right reasons - career growth, maximise potential or is the quick and expensive salary raise the sole determinant for hire? A robust recruitment strategy with a long term view of 3 years, mirroring the company's business strategy needs to be in place to solve this problem effectively. A quick check on this one parameter alone will tell us which company is prepared and who is not in this tough talent acquisition market. Balu Pandian, Marketing Director , JobStreet.com
