If this is going to be implemented, policies need to be put into place to ameliorate barriers to choices men currently face. Divorced men are often excluded by the courts from seeing their children, hence, for this policy to be truly effective, joint custody post-divorce should be mandated nationwide.
Also, women who prefer to stay at home should not be allowed to do so exclusively. They should be forced to return to the labor force half time so as to prevent any gaming of the system.
Marx and Gloria Steinem would be proud if this policy were put into place.
No surprise the authors are from Harvard.
