TCS does not recruit candidates just like that. After some levels of the interview process only do they select the concerned persons. Even though they know what it means to have poor performing employees. Guess their screening/ training process has to be improved. That too 500 is a big number and therefore unlikely.
As per G's comment there is a contradiction between the statements on whether they resigned voluntarily or were forced to do so.
