Soon, the Net could get a truly Hindi identity
Once multilingual IDNs are allowed, domain names such as www.rediff.in can be spelt out in Hindi and other local languages

But what ICANN has failed to tell you is that all Indian languages can be registered in dot com and other gTLDs. Just try registering a Hindi or Tamil string at Domainsite.com or an other IDN enabled registrar, and you will soon see what is available and what is gone. Domainsite even have an IDN enabled Whois. By the time ICANN actually get anything sorted out IDN.com will be in common use all over Asia.
