Rice may withstand climate changes: Swaminathan
India’s top agricultural scientist said the crop can be grown with less water as well as with deep water

Prof. Swaminathan's statement is quite ambiguous. In effect, what it means is that the yield of rice crop will not be affected whether there is less rain or more rain, or whether there is a change in temperature, etc. What is the scientific rationale for the Prof's conjecture? Per se, it reads more like an astrological prediction.
