The Pew survey clearly reflects the urban and maybe even semi-urban attitudes of India. The answer to the "paradox" (which is not really a paradox)is obvious to anyone who understands a modicum of Indian politics.
This statistic will reveal the answer - What was the average level of education and income of the people participating in the survey?
