It was the Bharatiya Jana Sangh that promoted free market economics before Rajagopalachari formed the Swatantra Party in 1959. And it was the BJS that proposed the Uniform Civil Code. It is a shame that since then minority appeasement and vote-ban politics of the Congress has gained ground veiled within the rhetoric (primarily in English; tryst with destiny) of our political leaders. Please read Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's initiatives, and why he resigned from the Nehru Cabinet in 1950.
While I agree that the 44th amendment needs to be revoked to prevent state intrusion into private property (e.g., disbursing land at will), I do not see the need for socially constructing a public discourse on libertarian philosophy in a country which is known for its collectivism. Not only will that ruin the social fabric of the country, it will unnecessarily result in many unintended consequences. Schools, hospitals, sanitation facilities, access to water, universal health care and population control are the issues. For that we need good governance. That's all.
