I fully agree with your comment. The loss of the Monarchy will cost Nepal dearly. You mentioned rightly how useful 20th century Monarchs were in transforming their countries and how Afghanistan still pays for the coup that ousted King Mohammed Zahir Shah in 1973 and for not installing him as King in 2003. Another example is Iraq, where 50 years ago the Hashemite King Faisal II was murdered and the atrocities that took place in July 1958 were only the beginning of a 50 year dictatorship.
